Shane advises clients on a wide range of asset management and investment fund matters, including the establishment and maintenance of Alternative Investment Funds Managers Directive (AIFMD) compliant Irish Alternative Investor Funds (AIFs) and Irish UCITS products.

He has worked as an Attorney-at-law in the Dillon Eustace Cayman Islands office and has significant experience in Cayman Islands fund structuring.

Shane's representative actions include advising:

  • A UK based asset manager on the establishment and authorisation of a UCITS platform and in particular on the establishment of a UCITS master feeder fund structures.
  • A Swiss asset manager on the establishment and authorisation of QIAIF platforms for large institutional pension funds.
  • An Irish UCITS Management Company on obtaining authorisation to act as a discretionary investment manager to non-Irish domiciled collective investment schemes.
  • An Irish Alternative Investment Fund Manager on the AIFMD passporting requirements.
  • A Swiss asset manager on the establishment and authorisation of a number of closed-ended and limited liquidity QIAIFs with investment strategies related to syndicated loans.
  • A UK asset manager on the extension of a closed-ended QIAIF and all legal and regulatory requirements with respect to same.
  • An Irish subsidiary of a large Belgian asset manager in relation to their Irish domiciled UCITS structure.
  • On the establishment and authorisation of an Irish Qualifying Investor AIF ICAV for investment in Irish commercial real estate.
  • An Irish Alternative Investment Fund Manager on their appointment to a number of Cayman Islands Exempt Limited Partnerships which pursue direct lending strategies using multiple sub-investment managers.
  • An Irish subsidiary of a large Japanese financial institution on the process of being authorised as a UCITS Management Company and fully authorised AIFM.
  • Specialist US loan managers on the establishment of ICAV structures for loan origination purposes.
  • An Irish AIFM on an extension of its AIFM licence to include individual portfolio management and investment advice.
