Karen Jennings advises clients operating across a wide-spectrum of financial services including asset and fund management; banking and payments; credit servicing and insurance. Karen provides advice on Irish authorisation and licensing issues and on regulatory and compliance matters affecting financial firms such as EMIR, AML/CTF requirements, confidential information and data protection requirements, outsourcing, business continuity and disaster recovery. Karen also advises clients on regulatory capital and corporate governance requirements.

Karen joined the firm in 1999, was made a Partner in 2005 and, following a sabbatical, returned to a senior role in our Financial Regulation group.

Having worked across both the Firm’s’ Asset Management and Banking groups previously, Karen’s 20 years’ experience acting for domestic and international financial institutions also includes advising on a broad range of matters from general corporate banking matters to more complex capital markets, securitisation and structured finance transactions.

Karen has lectured on the Law Society of Ireland's Finance Law Diploma programme on the Investment Intermediaries Act (1995) and subsequent amendments and MiFID.

Karen's representative transactions include advising:

  • Investors, promoters, fund managers and investment banks on the establishment, structuring, financing, public and private distribution and ongoing operation of traditional and alternative investment funds – including UCITS, hedge funds and funds of funds.
  • On a broad range of financing transactions, lending transactions, syndicated loans and debt restructuring.
