Fiona O'Neill is a Consultant and construction law specialist and joined the firm in March 2019.
Before joining Dillon Eustace, Fiona was a partner and head of construction in a leading Dublin law firm. Fiona also recently spent two years as part of the in-house legal team at Irish Water where her role included advising on areas of potential legal risk associated with construction and engineering projects including risk mitigation advice and compliance with internal governance requirements.
Fiona has in excess of 30 years’ experience having acted as lead construction advisor on a broad range of public and private sector, domestic and international, construction, infrastructure and commercial and residential property projects, acting for investors, developers, funders and borrowers. Fiona has extensive experience in advising on all aspects of construction and development projects including construction contract administration and dispute avoidance in complex construction contracts.
Fiona’s representative transactions include advising:-
- An approved housing body on a number of residential developments including the development of a 50 unit residential project in Co.Monaghan and a pilot project for delivery of 155 social and cost rental housing units in Dublin in conjunction with another approved housing body and a local authority.
- A global real estate investment firm on all construction elements of its acquisition and financing of a portfolio of 124 completed apartments in the Dublin Docklands.
- A receiver on the drafting and negotiation of construction documents for the build out of a residential development in South County Dublin.
- A funding institution on the construction documentation relating to a hotel development in a Dublin suburb.
- A NAMA receiver on the acquisition and forward sale of a development site in the Dublin Docklands Strategic Development Zone.
- A UK company specialising in delivery of student accommodation on the construction documentation relating to the construction of student accommodation in Church Street, Dublin.
- An Australian company on the construction elements of a coal mine extension project in New South Wales including EPC contracts, interface agreements with rail and road network providers, and coal handling and processing plant and track inspection and maintenance agreements.
- A wind farm operator on construction aspects of wind farm developments including design build contracts, turbine supply agreements, balance of plant (civil and electrical) contracts and engineering and technical consultancy agreements.
