Colman O'Loghlen is a Partner in our Asset Management and Investment Funds team. He specialises in advice on regulatory and structural issues relating to the establishment and management of all types of investment funds.

Colman advises many of the world's leading financial institutions and asset managers on the establishment, operation, corporate governance and registration of Irish regulated investment funds, in particular UCITS and alternative investment funds authorised under the AIFMD regime.

Colman’s representative transactions include advising:

  • On the formation of a wide range of investment funds, including UCITS, Qualifying Investor Alternative Investment Funds, master-feeder funds and index tracking funds.
  • On a number of UCITS IV mergers, both on a cross-border basis (Ireland to Luxembourg) and domestically in Ireland.
  • US, European and Asian based asset managers seeking Central Bank of Ireland approval to act as investment manager to Irish domiciled funds.
  • On the establishment and operation of Alternative Investment Fund Managers, UCITS Management Companies and “Super-Manco” structures.
  • A broad spectrum of UCITS – long-only funds, long/short funds, multi-asset funds, CAT bond funds and UCITS with complex derivatives strategies.
  • Managers seeking to distribute and market their funds both through passporting and private placement regimes.
  • On a range of ESG related matters including the SFDR and the Taxonomy Regulation (Article 8 / Article 9 Funds and PAI Statements).
