Alanna is a partner in the Asset Management and Investment Funds team. Alanna advises clients on a wide range of legal and regulatory investment fund matters including the structuring, establishment, operation and compliance of all types of funds including UCITS and AIFs. Alanna provides ongoing advices on the UCITS requirements and AIFMD requirements to fund promoters, management companies, investment managers, investment advisors, investment fund boards, administrators and depositaries with such clients based across Europe, Canada and the U.S.

Alanna completed a secondment in the Legal Department of a large US Asset Manager based in London, acting as Irish counsel providing general advices in respect of the expansion, operation and regulation of their Irish fund range and management company. She also has a Professional Diploma in Applied Alternative Investments from the Institute of Banking. Alanna is currently a member of the IF Africa and Middle-East Distribution Working Group.

Alanna’s representative transactions include advising:

  • A large UK asset manager on the authorisation of multiple Irish umbrella UCITS sub-funds with varying strategies, including sustainability focused funds and funds with a complex use of derivatives;
  • On the establishment of sub-funds investing in China A shares via the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect program;
  • Promoters on establishing traditional and alternative investment funds, including UCITS and QIAIFs, covering a wide range of strategies, including fund of funds, US loan origination activities and real estate funds;
  • A UK asset manager on a restructure of its investment management function, to include coordinating the various required approvals and updating the relevant fund documentation;
  • A large UK asset manager on multiple changes of service providers for its UCITS;
  • The conversions of self-managed UCITS to externally managed funds, including the appointment of Irish based management companies;
  • A UK asset manager on its cross-border merger of a Lux sub-fund into a newly established sub-fund in its Irish UCITS structure;
  • A Lux asset manager on the conversion of its Irish QIAIF from a PLC to an ICAV;
  • An Irish manager on the establishment and approval of multiple sub-funds to its QIAIF ICAV Platform Product involving multiple asset managers;
  • The establishment of an Irish super management company with MiFID permissions; and
  • European and non-European asset managers seeking Central Bank of Ireland clearance to act as discretionary investment manager to Irish authorised funds.
