Alan Harte specialises in Banking and Finance. Alan also has extensive experience of dealing with distressed loan portfolios including enforcement action. Alan is a Counsel in the Dillon Eustace Banking and Capital Markets Team.

Alan advises on a wide range of general banking and finance transactions, including real estate finance and development finance.

Prior to joining Dillon Eustace, Alan worked in the banking department a top 5 Irish law firm, and as in-house counsel for a pillar bank. Alan was also a senior solicitor in the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) where he advised on numerous multi-jurisdictional finance transactions, commercial litigation and corporate restructuring.

He has taught on the Banking Law and Corporate Restructuring and Insolvency modules in the Law School of the Law Society of Ireland for many years including acting as an examiner.

Alan's Representative Transactions include:

  • Advising NAMA on numerous real estate finance transactions of high-profile development assets in Ireland and the UK with values typically in excess of €60m;
  • Advising on bilateral acquisition and development finance facilities with Irish borrowers with values in excess of €30m;
  • Advising on numerous corporate restructurings including that of a €2.5bn development group with a portfolio of assets across several jurisdictions;
  • Advising a lender on several highly-contentious simultaneous enforcement proceedings across multiple jurisdictions;
  • Acting for a lender on multiple loan sale transactions of distressed debt portfolios; and
  • Acting for a pillar bank on the legal due diligence of a portfolio of €5bn of assets including the rectification and remediation of title and security issues prior to disposal.
