On 29th May 2020 the Companies Registration Office (the “CRO”) announced that they have decided to extend the current arrangement in relation to the filing of annual returns which had been introduced due to the disruption to companies caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.

Previously, in March 2020 the CRO had announced that all annual returns due to be filed by any company between the 18th March and the 30th June 2020 would be deemed to have been filed on time if all elements of the annual return were completed and filed by the 30th June. The CRO has now decided to extend this arrangement for a further period until the 31st October 2020.

The CRO has also announced that they are extending the arrangement in relation to entities that are required to file with the Registry of Friendly Societies (industrial and provident societies, friendly societies and trade unions) until the 31st December 2020.

Filing obligations will be deemed to have been met provided that all elements of the relevant returns have been submitted by the aforementioned dates. However, the CRO is encouraging entities to file as normal during this period if in a position to do so.

Further information in relation to the filing of annual returns can be found at www.cro.ie, on the CRO Twitter account @CRO_ie or by contacting info@cro.ie.
